JOB
GOALS:
We
are currently seeking an IT
“Information Technology” Support Technician
to support workstation computers, applications, and related technology.
Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer
systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines.
Activities require interaction with application software and
operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique
problems. The position utilizes one-on-one consultancy to client’s
staff. The employee in this position also assists in the maintenance and upkeep of all workstations, laptops, associated technology equipment. The
position’s responsibilities require independent analysis,
communication and problem solving in coordination with TAC, Tier 2 or
3 technical support. Work is performed with direct supervision by the Technical Assistance Coordinator and requires near-constant communication for dispatching and resource management. If you enjoy applying your

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- 3+ years of recent experience in IT installation, maintenance and support.
- Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Driving record of successful candidate will be verified through the state's driver's license bureau.
- Must be able to pass Department of Justice and/or the FBI criminal background check for placement in “kid safe” environments.
- Must be able to visually identify all colors used in various cables.
- Must be able to handle extension ladder (75 lbs.)
- Must be able to climb ladders and use hand tools.
- Must demonstrate a friendly customer satisfaction oriented demeanour.
- A+, N+, or Microsoft Certifications are not required, but a plus.
- K-12 environment work experience a plus.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists client staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of workstation computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines.
- Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
- Works with TAC and Network Operations staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from clients.
- Interact with numerous computer platforms in a multi-layered client server environment. Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems.
- Trains and orients client staff on use of hardware and software.
- Recommends and / or performs upgrades on systems to ensure longevity.
- Works with client’s procurement staff to purchase hardware and software.
- Assesses functional needs to determine specifications for purchases.
- Assists in maintaining inventory records and, as appropriate, telephone systems cable.
- Maintains an neat and organized work area at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
*Servers and network infrastructure are maintained by the Tier2/3 engineering group and is not a responsibility of the IT Support Technician.
